Engineering checks
with a GTM spine.
Two utilities I use on audits before I touch schema or copy: one scores how AI-ready the surface is, the other proves whether bots are even allowed to read you. Same stack I ship for US and EU founders: precise inputs, plain-language outputs. Want the full picture? See AEO strategy and free resources.

How the toolkit maps work
What humans see in the market: gaps, risk, urgency.
What machines read: rules, schema, crawl contracts.
What you change next: one prioritized fix list.

Common questions about
how these tools work.
Privacy, accuracy, limits, and what to do with the score once you have it.
01How accurate is the AI Visibility Score quiz?
The quiz scores 10 dimensions known to influence AI engine citation: bot access, entity schema, FAQPage markup, answer-first content, content freshness, E-E-A-T signals, internal linking, citation-friendly statistics, semantic HTML, and Core Web Vitals. The score is a strong directional indicator. The full audit a paid engagement provides goes deeper into query-specific gaps and actual citation tracking.
02Is the robots.txt checker safe to run on any domain?
Yes. The checker reads the public /robots.txt file via a CORS proxy. No login, no scraping behind authentication, no data stored. It only fetches what any AI crawler would already see. Works on any publicly accessible domain.
03How is the generator different from the checker?
The checker reads what your site already serves and reports which AI bots are allowed or blocked. The generator builds a fresh robots.txt for you to deploy. Most teams use both: check first to spot the gap, generate to fix it, then re-check on the live URL after deploy to confirm every crawler reads it correctly.
04Why do AI bots get blocked so often by accident?
Most platforms (Webflow, Shopify, WordPress with default plugins) ship with conservative robots.txt rules that disallow crawler categories AI bots fall into. The site owner often does not realize GPTBot, ClaudeBot, and PerplexityBot are blocked until they run a check. The fix is usually three lines of robots.txt config.
05Are the tools limited to one check per day?
No. All three tools are unlimited and free. Run them on as many sites as you want. The only data we keep is the email address you optionally provide to receive the full report, and you can opt out any time.
06Can I embed these tools on my own site?
Not currently as embeds, but the methodology is open and documented in the relevant blog posts. If you want to build something similar for an internal team or client deliverable, the linked Insights articles cover the scoring rubric and the bot-access logic.
The tools cover the basics.
The audit goes deeper.
The free tools score the surface. A full engagement maps every gap, fixes the architecture, and tracks citations across all four major AI engines. Tell me about the project, replied within 4 hours.
